Am Sonntag, 17. Februar wärmte sich Alanya noch bei plus 18 Grad, die Mitte Februar gewohnte Temperatur.
Der Montag darauf hingegen bot Großen wie Kleinen die seltene Freude, Schneemänner bauen zu können. Zwei Stunden heftiger Schneefall überraschte alle Menschen, erfreute aber nur einen kleinen Teil von ihnen. Weiße Straßen machten den Verkehr zum Glücksfall. Es war nicht immer ein guter Rutsch ins reine Glück, vielmehr in die Werkstatt.
Der Temperaturabfall und der damit verbundene Schneefall kam unangekündigt, zuletzt 1960 schlug das Wetter solche Kapriolen.
Dabei ist Alanya im Vergleich zu höher gelegenen Gegenden in der Türkei und im Nachbarland Griechenland noch bestens davongekommen. Im Gegensatz von dort kann von einem Schneechaos überhaupt nicht gesprochen werden.
